"Sticky Fingers" is one of the greatest records ever recorded, and it truly defines what rock 'n roll is supposed to be like. It's guitars, driving bass, powerful horn arrangements and pure attitude - "Can You Hear Me Knocking" is the musical equivalent of a sneer and a shit-eating grin. The Stones rock out on the classics "Brown Sugar," "Bitch" and "Sway." They render touching, beautiful ballads in "Wild Horses," "I Got the Blues" and "Moonlight Mile." They play country rock in the fun "Dead Flowers" and straight-on blues in "You Gotta Move." One or two songs get bogged down in the solo sections thanks to an over the top performance by Mick Taylor, who had just joined the band. However, despite that, there's not really one song that you can feel good about skipping - every track is astounding. How many albums can you say that about? This belongs in everyone's collection, if you're a Stones fan or not.
