Review:
- 5 (out of five)

This is one of the most important records ever made. It marked the beginning of an era in which the Stones made the best music of their careers and dominated the musical world. The first track, "Sympathy for the Devil" is simply one of the greatest songs ever written. Mick sings truly with the voice of a been-there done-that sophisticated Satan over a blistering Keith riff, a driving bass line by Bill and wild percussion, with bongo drums and maraccas, by Charlie. The other canonical rock song here is "Street Fighting Man," a whirl of anger and frustration backed by furious acoustic guitars and driving, pounding drums.

The rest of the album is acoustic bliss. They play a sophisticated blues-rock in "Parachute Woman," "Jig Saw Puzzle" and the sexy "Stray Cat Blues." The rest of the tracks are acoustic ballads and blues numbers, including the choral album closer, "Salt of the Earth," which features Keith on co-lead vocals. Every person should have this album in their collection.
